Everyone said we were really up-beat and sang it well so that’s good ha! We will be singing it for TY night so let’s hope it goes that well then to :)

Cycling Talk

On Friday a man from Kildare county council came in and gave us a talk on cycling. He talked about why we should cycle, the benefits and advantages of cycling. He was talking about the Netherlands and how nearly everyone there cycles and its mostly woman where as here it is mostly men and boys that cycle. Cycling is better for our health fitness and it causes less traffic congestion on the roads which in Ireland is a big problem. He was talking bout how it the completely normal to cycle everywhere in the Netherlands and Kildare county council are trying to do the same here

Bog Bodies

On Thursday we went into town to see the art museum and then the national museum. We went into the national museum first. We saw some tools and jewellery from the people in the stone and bronze age a Lurgan boat and bog bodies. These are bodies that were found in the bogs and have been preserved for millions of years in the bogs. They could find out what their last meals were and on one body found they could even take his fingerprint! Their hair was preserved but died the coloured of the bog because they have been there so long. We then went to the art museum and saw paintings by Jack B Yeats and other famous painters. We then went to William B Yeats's poetry museum. My favourite museum was the art museum I thought it was the most interesting.

Margaret Aylward

On the 15th of March we went to glasnavin to preform our play "Time Of Your Life". We got there at around 11 and we saw the other plays being practiced we left our bags into one of the halls behind the hall and practiced our three plays a couple of times. We then got pizza and went down to the shop to get some sweets. We started to get ready for the play at around six and preformed it at around half eight. We got presented with books and a trophey and left straight after the preformances. We got back home at half ten.

jabba jabba gembe

On tuesday we had a drums workshop in the music room. It was from 9:45 until 2:40 with a man called David. Most of us at the start had a drum called a gembe drum. To introduce us to the diffrent ways of playing the drums David would play somthing and we would play it back to him. We did a beat called the woodpecker and pat the baker. He said diffrent sounds for the diffrent beats. There was loads of diffrent instruments that we could play and i cant think of all the names at the moment but they were all good. It was a good day and i would like to do it again.

Kildare Enterprise Compition

So The Just Desserts got to the kildare enterprise :) Im so proud :) haha. It was in the hotel next to time ... we went in and set up our back board and put out the cakes we made for it. It was so bad because it was during lent and im off chocolate and sweets and thats all we had at our stand (I broke my lent that day :/). We got dinner befor the judging began. Then three judges came around to all the sixteen stands one at a time and asked us questions about our product. That went well :) Then we just had to wait for the results. We won judges prize, thats for best presentation :) The product that won was great! It was stick on soles for your shoes to make them look like louboutins.

Work experience - Dunboyne National School

The week i had in Dunboyne was good I was in second class the first two days and senior infants for the second two days (diffrent classes) then the third second class on friday. In the school they have a seprate school for the seinour and junior students with a diffrent principle for the two schools The both schools are the same size as a normal school so all together it is twice the size of a normal school. The senior school has 3 junior infant classes 3senior infant classes 5 first and 2 second class's. The junior school goes from third to sixth class but i wasnt in this school. For the week I helped with art music writing and reading and observed. It was a good week but i dont think i would like to become a teacher after the week i have had!

Work experience - Crumlin Hospital :)

This was by farrr my favourite work experience that i have done! It was sooo good :) There is a special program there for ty students from all diffrent schools. One or two people from all the departments came in to talk to us (there were 45 in my class) in the lecture hall. Sounds boring but it realy wasnt at all! We didnt get to go to many diffrent places in the hosiptal for privicy reasons for the patiences. But we did get to go to the Pathology labs for a tour at the end our first day. I saw a tumer in a kidney and a lung. I also saw how they would test blood for diffrent allergies like if they allergic to dogs or cats or if they had hay fever ... things like that. That lab i found realy intresting. On the first day we had regisration then an introduction to the hospital like when the diffrent parts were built and what is due to happen in the future. Then we had a talk on Pharmacy occupational therapy a break for then minutens a fire safty lecture (totaly un-nessery) then a break for an hour then two nurses came in and talked then a ten minute break then the labs tour then home. The second day we got a talk from they emergency department this was intresting and a job i would like to do. I would like to do it because it changes everyday because you dont specialise in any area like you get to see it all and its the most exciting job with diffrent cases everyday and your always buzy (the pay and the hours are good to!). We then got a social work talk which was intresting to but I wouldnt like it as much as opposed to a nurse in the emergincy dept or just a normal childrens nurse because I have a very soft heart and I would be crying all the time haha but it was very intresting. We then had a dietetics talk which was ok not great but thats because I have no intrest in studing to becoming a dietiton after school. Then during our ten minute break the clowen doctoers came in, there were great and they have a very important job beause they joke and have a laugh with the children making them forget about there illness and just have fun with them! Sounds lik a great job doesnt it?! haha. Then a Bio Medical engineers, CMRF and Endorinology this is to do with growth and hormones that was intresting and sounded like a good job. I realy liked oncology this is the doctors and nurses that help cancer patients granted it would be very very hard to take emotionaly but I would realy like to become it! On Wednesday we had a talk on the psychiatry department which was intresting and many people liked it in my class! Next was Audiology and then Basic life support so if anyone just drops and stops breathing call me! haha. Infection control was quite boring! I know if any of my friends read this they will be like I would of thought you realy liked that because im like a clean freak :/ but yeh that was very boring. The NCHD's was intresting and so was they NCMG this is like an on call doctor but it gives you the chance to work abroad like the man that gaves me the talk on NCMG and NCHD's worked in africa treating familys there for a year they worked in alot of other places but they only had the pitures from africa with them. On Thursday we had cardiology, Physiotherpy, surgary nurses, Burns and plastics and then speech and language. The last two were the best from that day. The burns was extreamly intresting she showed us pictures and told us what to do if you get a majour burn or scald. The speech and language was intresting and i thought it wouldnt be very buzy but it is very buzy mostly with cancer pationts becasue sometimes the treatments they go through impares there speech for a wile. Friday we had Dermatology, Occupational health, Rdiology, St. Louises and Haemophillia then we got our certificits and class photo (I will post it up when I get the picture) all in all it was an unreal week and even if your not intrested in doing anything in a hospital you should still do it, its sooo good and was a great experience!

The rugby blitz was so much fun! We hav been tranining in school for the past like six weeks and we had a realy goood team....Tom and Ross have been tranning us and the other schools that were in the blitz aswel that were against us. We were actualy realy good when we played our first proper match against the other schools! We had five matches in total and we all realy enjoyed it and are wanting to keep doing it!

Croke Park :)

We went to Croke Park on Monday it was greatt :). When we got there we watched a short movie on what goes on behind the scenes befor a match. A lot of preperation is needed befor a big match in Croke Park. We then got a tour around the grounds of croke park and got told what would happen here befor a big match. We then got brought out to the pitch and showen where the team would be presented with the cup if they won. after the tour of the grounds we then were brought to the gaa history museuem where you could play some games. We were able to go around ourselves befor we went then to see anything we might have missed along the way ! It was a gud day ... quite fun :)

Warris Dirie - Summary...

This story is about Warris's eventful life. She tells a story of what she had to go through and what some girls have to go through as a child. At the age of five she was herding animals and cleaning (as many girls would do that live there). She was then forced to marry an old man but refused and ran away to her sister to find work and make some money. She then got a job for a man over in england as a maid and found that extreamyl hard as she had no experience and no english. She then met a photographer that took a few photos of her and became a very suscessful model and told the world her story to make people aware that this happens in africa to young girls and that it has to stop. I feel sorry for any girl that is forced by her parents to marry a man and a very old man at that! I also would hate to have to go through what she did at five years of age, she didnt even no what was happening all she knew is all girls got it done and her time would come to get it done and it did ... I personaly dont understand why any mother or father would force their child to get that done if they could die as a result, their isnt even a proper reason for it, its not for religious reasons, cutural reasons or for heath so why force it upon your little girl? I know it isnt uncommon in Africa but I feel very strongly that it should not be done. I admire Warris for taking a stand to her life and leaving Africa to search for work in londen, to start a career and make money for herself and her family back in Africa. Befor i read this i never knew things like this were happening so her reason in writing her life story is working, it is making people aware of what young children are having to go through and she is trying to stop it. I admire Warris for taking a stand and making somthing of herself and I hope many girls like her will take a stand to. Warris is now in my opoinin a role model for young girls like her that want to make somthing of themselves like get a job and a house and providing for their families. She has shown me that if you realy want somthing you can definitly achive it if you set your mind to it and that is what she did.

Homeck fashion show :) .....

For our homeck project we decided to make a dress...Our colour was purple so we dyed the top and trousers.....we then cut the top into a halter neck and the trousers into a skirt. We decided to go a bit crazy with our idea so we said we would stick broken cds (Bad idea they kept falling off!) and tinsel on the dress to make it stand out. We also put perl like beads around the neckline...For the fashion show we back combed our models hair and made it crazy like the dress... and it was hah :)! our dress was weird but we won for most unique outfit :) so it was grand in the end :D

English drama

Ok our english drama ..... we have been changing it non-stop and it is now it is finaly done...one week befor the compition! :O crazy i know hahah! wel ours is about a girl that goes off to collage and knows no one. She meets a boy that helps her find he feet and they begin to go out....he gets very possive and agressive towards her and starts to take drugs....lets just say this ends badly!

Young Scientist

For young scientist me Laura and Eileen came up with the idea to make a natural animal repellant called Here Buggy Buggy hahah! We came up with this idea because we all hate bugs and want them to stop them coming into our houses! We first resarched what household spiders eat and what they dont like...we then brought the ingreditents in to make a jelly substance that would repel spiders and bugs that come into our homes.
